Clearly they did not take Barbri… #barexamproblems
That’s exactly how it happened….
In honor of finals week (and the complete lack of time to actually write blogs and enjoy life) I’ve decided to let you all experience what it’s like to be in law school through various YouTube clips.
When a professor talks about the duties of the court:
When you are asked about the standard of review:
When you are giving an oral argument and the judge interrupts you to ask a question:
What you feel like when you’re studying for finals:
When you get a question right in class:
What clips describe your life in law school/grad school/etc?!
It’s that time again… finals! Three times a year I bury myself in the books and have no life. HOWEVER, this blog is way more important than finals and I couldn’t imagine going a week without an epic movie quote. This week we are combining epic quotes with #lawschoolproblems. Enjoy:
I saw this image and thought it was appropriate for how I was feeling. It is the middle of finals week and my blogging has been lacking for the below reasons.
Any movie buff knows there is nothing like courtroom drama. Some of the best scenes in any movie take place in the courtroom. I was browsing through the movie channels and, luckily for me, there were so many choices to choose from. The one thing I noticed was that all the great movies that were on had an amazing court room scene. Here’s what I came up with as the top 5 courtroom scenes in the movies:
5. Chicago. Richard Gere. Enough said. This is one of the only musical courtroom scenes I can think of but the scene was great. It was funny, entertaining, and (as courtroom scenes normally are) shocking!
4. Legally Blonde. Let’s hear it for the blondes! The dumb girls finally prevail in this climactic scene where Reese Witherspoon solves the murder circulating the film. Who says that knowing the science of a perm is useless?
3. Big Daddy. What can I say… I laughed, I cried, and I almost called my dad when it was all over. This scene is epic/hilarious. You start out by laughing at the ridiculousness. You somehow become touched and all warm and fuzzy inside. Then you’re hysterical crying because Adam Sandler can’t have his kid. This is a good one.
2. Liar Liar. The truth will set you freeeeeeee!!! At least it did for Jim Carrey. What happens when a lawyer can’t lie? Apparently, hilarity ensues. Yes, there are people in law school who are only there because of this movie.
1. My Cousin Vinny. Anyone who argues that this is not the best courtroom scene of all time is crazy. In fact, I think this is my favorite movie of all time. The whole film including the incredible courtroom scene with Marisa Tomei was a dream. If you haven’t seen this film, SEE IT!

There are two types of busy. The first type is when you are pretty busy and can use that business as an excuse for getting out of things you don’t want to do. For example, giving yourself a reason for not going to the gym. Or instead of making a home cooked meal, you speed through the drive-thru because you just “don’t have time” to make something. Then there is the second type of busy. The type if busy when you ACTUALLY have no time to do anything. The type of busy where you sleep 4 hours a night and are so jammed packed with things to do that you don’t even have time to go to the bathroom.
I am the second kind of busy. I know, it is hard to tell since people almost ALWAYS claim to be the second type. You may be wondering, “If she is so busy, how did she have time to write a blog?!” Well my friends, if it wasn’t for the fact that I was waiting for white-out on my criminal law outline to dry, I wouldn’t have time but since I cannot turn the page until it is fully dry I figured I would post this quick entry. This blog is for anyone who is so busy they want to cry. My insane business is only temporary. Please, bitch and complain all you want in the comments below. I sympathize with you no matter what type of busy you are…
Are you type one or type two busy? Are you too cool for school and actually have time for fun things? Complain and/or brag in the comments below!

I am going to be honest. I saw the ads for this show and thought it looked cute but never had any intention of watching it. I was happy to see that the guy from Road Trip and Zack Morris were back in action and on the small screen though. It wasn’t until I received a Klout Perk offering me free copies of the first couple episodes that I decided to watch it. I got excited for two reasons: (1) I love free things and I was excited that my Klout earned me something, and (2) now I had a reason to support two of my favorite actors from the past. In honor of transparency, I was in NO way asked to write a review or blog about the episodes I received. I just liked them so much that I decided it was blog worthy!
We are busy people. It is hard enough as it is to find time to watch our DVRed favorite shows. The last thing I wanted to do was pick up another one. However, after watching the 2 episodes of Franklin and Bash that were sent to me, I suddenly feel that I can make room for one more show. Here’s why I love this show so far:
Dynamic of Characters
Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer are an incredible team. Watching the two of them is really entertaining. They’re like PB&J- they just mesh together well. Besides the two of them and their comedic harmony, I also love many of the other characters. Their team of ex-convict and agoraphobe. I also like the firm’s senior partner portrayed by Malcolm McDowell (yes, Ari’s nemesis and Sloane’s father from Entourage). The only character I don’t like is Hannah. She is awkward, I’m not sure where her loyalties lie, and she is too tall for Meyer’s character, Franklin.
They Make Lawyers Look Bad
As a law student, I am sensitive to cheap lawyer jokes. When the show began with an ambulance chaser joke I thought, “oh great… this is real original.” However, after that point, there were no more cheap swings and lame lawyer jokes (which I appreciated). They have chosen to pick fun at lawyers in a new way (which I also appreciate). These lawyers are total frat boys. They party with their clients, act like roommates by knocking down the wall between their office, and are ridiculously over the top. May not be the best in real life lawyering, but is pretty funny for television.
They Make Lawyers Look Good
While sometimes I think that these guys are the worst lawyers ever, they seem to always win (ahhh the beauty of television). But despite their partying ways, they are really good guys at heart. They have principles, which many people think lawyers do not have, and they legitimately care about their clients. They show this in bizarre, over the top ways, but overall they are making lawyers look good. They also make being a lawyer look like a lot of fun! This is why people want to be a lawyers- the theatrics of the court scenes make it looks like you can get away with anything!
Personally, I found this show really relatable. Maybe it’s because I am in law school, but I think it is more than that. Yes, I got very excited when I knew what “heresay” was and some other legal jargon. But I also loved that they play video games in the office. In fact, I used to have Wii Wednesdays at my office too! The show is fun and it makes me want to hangout with them.
Have you tuned in to Franklin and Bash? What did you think of the show? Let me know your thoughts!

Being busy all the time is fun but the one down side is that you never see the outdoors. All day long I sit in an office, glimpsing the outdoors only when I quickly grab lunch. Then I hop on a subway and a bus and spend my night in the basement of a school. By the time I see the outdoors, it is nighttime. There is something depressing about being indoors all day long. That is why this week me and my boyfriend went to Alley Pond Park, a local park in my neighborhood. It was so nice to hike in the woods, play in the playground, and just enjoy being outdoors. Whether you live in the country or in a big city, I guarantee you can find a nice park to enjoy. Grace the outdoors with your presence!
What do you like doing outside? How often do you see the outdoors in between your busy life? Let me know in the comments!
