My Life In Law School Through YouTube Videos

In honor of finals week (and the complete lack of time to actually write blogs and enjoy life) I’ve decided to let you all experience what it’s like to be in law school through various YouTube clips.

When a professor talks about the duties of the court:

When you are asked about the standard of review:

When you are giving an oral argument and the judge interrupts you to ask a question:

What you feel like when you’re studying for finals:

When you get a question right in class:

What clips describe your life in law school/grad school/etc?!

Stop Hooking Up With Your Friends Friends.

It always seems like a good idea at the time. Sometimes you’re like, “Hey! I’m drunk. You’re cute. My friend is your friend so we have LOTS in common.” Other times you’re thinking, “WOW, if this works out it could be awesome! One big happy family of friends!” And then there’s my favorite, “I probably won’t hangout with this person again… right?”

Rule of thumb: Just because you have a similar friend doesn’t mean you have anything in common. Sure, if it works out it will be awesome but chances are it WON’T work out so stop right now. Of course you’re going to see this person again. Is your friend just going to stop hanging out with this person because you made out with them?!

I have fallen victim to this too many times to admit and I have learned one thing… Don’t $h!t where you eat! These situations almost always end badly. Sorry to say, but you are not Chandler and Monica. The man you’ve been waiting for isn’t right in front of you all along. If you like your current friends, leave their friends alone! The one drunk night is not worth that awkward conversation in the morning… and every other time you see this person.

Have you ever been in a compromising situation like this one? Share your horror story to discourage others!

Another Second Chance At The Golden Globes

Actors, especially in TV, are lucky enough to get their one big break. When you are on an extremely popular television show that goes on for years, you may get type-casted. Being on one hit TV show is GREAT but being on two… it is rare and very lucky! I like to root for the underdog and I was thrilled to see Matt Le Blanc win a Golden Globe for his work in Episodes. I have never seen the show but I am obviously a fan of Friends and I will always root for Joey… I mean Matt when he is in the running for an award.

I don’t think anyone would have thought that after her stint on Friends he would get a second chance at “Best Actor in a Comedy” at the Golden Globes. I just love seeing actors get a second chance on the small screen and was happy to see him pull a win!

Last year I felt the same way about Katey Sagal. Honestly, who would have thought that Peggy Bundy would be up for a Golden Globe years later and then win it! Once again the Golden Globes was a night of second chances.

Did you watch the Golden Globes? Who are you happy to see won and who are you disappointed to see lost? Let me know!

TV Review: The New Girl Has Found Its Stride

First episode- meh. Second episode- I cracked a smile. Third, fourth, and so on- It just keeps getting better. There were some pretty promising new shows this fall season, one of them being New Girl. I wasn’t the only one excited for this show. I think we all have a soft part in our hearts for Zooey Deschanel even when she was being a bi-atch in 500 Days of Summer. When I first saw the show, I really thought it was going to be a flop. Zooey’s character was awkward, and it was sort of uncomfortable to watch. With the encouragement of some friends, I have continued watching and I have been pleasantly surprised. (Don’t continue reading if you haven’t seen Episode 5 yet! There will be spoilers!)

This week’s episode (Episode 5) was the highlight that inspired me to write this blog and essentially endorse the show. Basically, the show is about a quirky, kind of weird girl named Jess who moves in with a bunch of bros. Her best friend, Cece, is a gorgeous model and in this episode, Cece stays with Jess in the apartment. Up until now we were just getting to know the characters and getting used to the humor but this week we are starting to see where the plot is going. There may be an underlying romance budding between Jess and one of her roommates, Nick. This is very exciting and as a fan, I hope they don’t rush through this plot line!

People forget that it took seasons for Ross and Rachel to finally get their acts together and be a couple. Friends, the most epic sitcom ever to have been on television, didn’t rush the plot and they still had tons of fans! So many shows feel the need to solve every story line in Season 1 and then they have nothing left! Some of my other favorite shows, such as Cougar Town and Glee, have made that same mistake of having the two characters you want to get together, get together too soon! I still watch these shows but I can see them having short lives.

ANYWAY, my point is that New Girl has so far been very promising and has really found its stride! Was it weird when they switched out characters after episode one? Yea, a little. But I got over it. If you haven’t watched, catch up! It will be worth your while! If you do watch it, let me know because I really want more people to talk about it with.

Have you been watching New Girl? What do you think?!
